DIY & DESIGN FROM BERMUDA'S OLDEST PAINT STORE

Smooth Sailing

Beautiful bold blue walls and rounded work space give this room a sunny but chic nautical feel.

The Newport To Bermuda Race is well underway with the first competitors already arriving (and celebrating)!  Living on an island it’s only natural that we should take design cues from the beautiful ocean around us.

From colours to textures, there are many ways to add this theme to your home.  We love the soothing and slightly masculine feel of navy blue walls (Benjamin Moore Hale Navy is one of our favourites) mixed with warm woods and white woodwork.  For a softer and lighter space layer navy fabrics against a neutral wall paint colour and comfy furniture in leather or linen.  Scatter pops of orange or coral in pillows, accessories or art to add warmth.

As with any themed decor, remember that a little goes a long way.  It’s easy to get carried away and overload a room with everything nautical you can get your hands on.   Select a few pieces and use them as inspiration for the rest of your design.

Nautical Bedroom

Rich navy walls are contrasted with crisp white linens and touches of turquoise and coral.

Neutral Walls With Nautical Touches

For a lighter touch layer navy and white fabrics against a neutral warm wall paint colour.
